So, I'm back at school! first week was a whirlwind of reading syllabus with all new teachers, and reconnecting with my friends. I have talked to more people already than last year, meeting more people. I am enjoying my classes as well, though they were just introductions to the courses. Entering week two, though shortened by one day because of the holiday, I have a great feeling about the entire year. But besides school, I had a busy time with friends.
For starters, I saw one of my favorite bands, Walk the Moon, live in Columbus! It was a fairly small venue show, with under three hundred attendees (this is a complete estimate that maybe completely wrong). But the show was epic. If you have time, definitely look them up (YouTube link here). My favorite song would have to be Anna Sun. The show was spectacular. I am sometimes wary of bands that sound great in the studio, then don't sound nearly the same live. At this concert, I saw no discerning difference between the record and the live show. The other though I had was that the band would talk too much between songs, discussing new music they had written on tour or band story time. I would prefer some talking by the band and not straight music, but the balance Walk the Moon displayed between crowd interaction and playing through their album. As a side note, the band has only released one album, Walk the Moon, at the beginning of this year. There were three new songs they played for the crowd, and the entire show lasted about two hours. The place was rocking with every song, and I highly recommend going if just for the experience.
The second part of my extended weekend involved going to the Cincinnati Fireworks display. Placed directly on the Ohio River between downtown Cincy and Newport, Kentucky, the display lasted almost and hour. a barge was situated between two of the bridges crossing the river, and it fired off most of the fireworks. but the two bridges had their own displays, with fountains and mortars going off in a pitched battle to see who was the loudest. It was an incredible sight to see, and probably the best display of fireworks I have seen yet.
So that's all I have for today. please comment on either my Facebook page or below. i really would like feedback, so ask questions, tell me how I am doing, or your own thoughts of the day.
Until next time.
