My Friday started with an early morning to catch a train into Chicago. My friends and I were going to see the Blackhawk's victory parade. If you do not know who the Blackhawks are, shame on you. The Blackhawks are a hockey team, and they had won the National Hockey League's coveted Stanley Cup, awarded the championship team of the league. The Hawks played a great season to come out on top, and the victory parade included the players showing off the Cup. Now, going to Chicago on a Friday means that there will be a decent amount of people, visiting or otherwise. But Friday, it was a madhouse. Two million people came to see the team and the trophy.
Two million!!!!!
I have never seen more than twenty thousand people in one place outside of stadiums, and it was awesome. Everyone was wearing red. After the parade, there was a rally held in one of the parks. My friends and I were walking back to our train station located in the same park, and turned the corner to see a sea of red. The park was overflowing with two million Chicago Blackhawks fans. I was just awestruck at the amount of people that could fit into about a square mile area.
After the parade, I went home and relaxed. But I was convinced by my friend to go see Now You See Me. Now You See Me is an awesome crime/heist movie. With an incredible cast led by Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenburg, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine, leads you on a whirlwind trip of crime, love, and magic. Jesse Eisenburg and Woody Harrelson lead a group of street magicians who go big-time very quickly, basically overnight stars. However, their main attraction is a robbery or heist of a bank. Modern day Robin Hoods, if you will.
Unfortunately, that's all I can say about the movie's plot with out spoiling the entire movie. Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk from The Avengers) plays the FBI agent in charge of the investigation of the magicians, and Morgan Freeman is a former magician who goes out to expose other magicians. The movie is very fast-paced, and keeps the watcher engaged in every scene. The magic scenes are excellent as well, with Morgan Freeman aiding in the break down of every trick. My favorite part was the surprise twist at the very end of the film, but I hush up now until someone else has seen it.
I loved this movie more than I thought I would, and was thoroughly entertained through the entire film. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a good heist movie.
Until next time.
